Matt Riddle Suspended Over WWE Wellness Policy Violation

WWE has a wellness policy for their Superstars, and they have needed to flex their proverbial muscle from time to time, and suspend someone, if a Superstar fails a test. It seems that WWE doesn’t see many Superstars fail that test anymore, but now a failure has surfaced.

Solo Sikoa evoked Umaga’s spirit to destroy Matt Riddle on RAW last week. The Original Bro was stretchered away, and then a six-week injury hiatus was announced. It turns out that Riddle isn’t injured at all.

Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net reports that Matt Riddle actually failed a wellness policy test. It seems that another drug test failure for Riddle will result in rehab or termination, meaning this is likely his second violation.

Sources have told me that the reason that Matt Riddle failed a drug test leading up to SummerSlam, this was also the last test under Vince McMahon’s regime. With Vince no longer in charge, a “new creative direction” was taken regarding Riddle, and his big match against Rollins was postponed until Clash at the Castle. Additionally, I was told that the company informed Riddle at the time that another failed drug test would result in a “rehab or fired” situation similar to what happened with Jeff Hardy previously.

It was not noted what Riddle tested positive for to cause his wellness policy failure. WWE famously had a “weed tax” of $2,500 if someone popped dirty for THC on a test. In recent memory, it seems that WWE hasn’t even dished out any of those fines. That being said, the substance in question for Riddle is more than just marijuana.

Matt Riddle’s six-week suspension from WWE comes during the Holidays, so he will get plenty of time for that. He was also recently spotted with his new adult film star girlfriend, Misha Montana, so he has someone to keep him company as well.
