BEDMINSTER TOWNSHIP, PA — A soaring bird found itself tangled in the back stop netting at a Bedminster baseball field on Wednesday.
But lucky for this bird, the community's first responders were on duty.
The Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company, the Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 and the Pennsylvania Game Commission assisted the Bedminster Township Police Department in rescuing the bird.
The firefighters extended a ladder up to the netting, untangled the bird and brought it back to the ground where it was handed over to the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
"We are used to hearing the jokes about getting a cat out of a tree. This was truly a new one for us," wrote the Plumsteadville firefighters on their Facebook page. "Oh, and the bird was successfully saved and was not harmed."
