Since the mid-1970s, the Central Village Homemakers have been a important supportive organization to and for the community in Mathews. With the closing of 2022 their workshops, outreach programs, scholarships and, of course, the Sing-Alongs are in the books, and new ideas are appearing with the new year.
Before 2022’s end, the group held its annual, extravagant, delicious Christmas party. The recipes they shared can be enjoyed year-round.
2½ c. diced cooked chicken3 ribs celery, diced¼ c. sweet onion, finely diced2/3 c. mayonnaise5 oz. crushed pineapple, drained2 tsp. sugar1 Tbs. sour cream1½ tsp. lemon juiceSalt and pepper to tasteMix all ingredients together.
1 pkg. (12-oz.) fresh cranberries¾ c. orange juice¼ c. water½ c. sugar2 Tbs. fresh ginger1/8 tsp. cinnamon
